Honey

Honey is great for your skin. When added to soaps, it’s hardly noticeable when you are using it in the shower or washing your hands in the sink – it’s not sticky at all and leaves no discernible trace. Honey is packed with antioxidants, which are known to help fight signs of ageing, pollution, and unhealthy lifestyle habits from showing on your skin. It helps skin glow through its excellent moisturizing properties. Honey is also great for those with problem skin – it’s antibacterial which helps with acne prevention and treatment, and it helps open up the pores in order to clean and unclog. Read More: Honey

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is traditionally used to help soothe angry skin – burns, wounds, and sunburn. It also helps calm dry, flaky skin, eczema, psoriasis, and it’s good for acne. It’s very moisturizing, fights ageing, and reduces the look of stretch marks. For more detailed information, read this: The Benefits of Using Aloe Vera for Skin Care and More

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is used world-wide for its amazing benefits for the skin and body. From helping with stretch-marks to anti-ageing to skin softening, coconut oil is a skin superfood. Read More: Coconut Oil for Skin

Grapeseed Oil is a light, easily absorbed oil that contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, both of which are great for fighting & healing acne & aging. The oil also contains linoleic acid, which is great for promoting skin health. It helps to tighten skin & moisturize – even the most sensitive of skin.

What Does “Saponified” Mean?

Saponification is the chemical reaction used in the soap making process. When the oils and fats are combined with lye (a strong alkali) they are called saponified. At the end of the process the lye is all gone, and you are left with just soap. To learn more about this, have a look at my blog post on the subject.

About “Filler” Oils

Cheaper oils are often used as a “filler” but I don’t use them because they don’t add much nutrient value to the soap.

I don’t use palm oil in any of my products, since its production is harmful to the environment, destroying critical habitat for many endangered species, as well as being linked with the eviction of forest-dwelling peoples. Find out more here.

I only use high quality oils and butters that are filled with beneficial nutrients for the skin. Learn more about this on my blog.
